Press release: New Group Policy Extension Announced by Special Operations Software Improves Active Directory Password PolicyRSS

ENGLEWOOD, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 15, 2005 -- Special Operations Software, a global provider of Active Directory integrated and Group Policy extension server and desktop management software, today announced a new Group Policy extension product that goes under project name "Barcode." Project "Barcode" is a product that removes the limitation of only one Password Policy for an Active Directory domain.

In the current version of Active Directory only one password policy is provided for all domain accounts. Project "Barcode" gives users the ability to specify different password policies based on group membership, organizational unit, and even for individual user accounts. In addition, Project "Barcode" also extends the complexity requirement options available and defines the complexity rules a password must meet.

"A common security problem for many organizations worldwide using Active Directory is that the Password Policy has to be the same for the entire domain even though domain administrators should have much more complex password rules compared to other employees," said Robert Lundh, CEO of Special Operations Software. "With Project 'Barcode,' we offer organizations worldwide the ability to increase their security level where it is needed the most."

Project "Barcode" is scheduled for a September release and will go into public Beta in mid-August. Public Beta registration is open at Special Operations Software's website www.specopssoft.com
