Press release: Special Operations Software Announces Availability of Specops Password Policy
Group Policy Extension Removes Existing One Password Policy Limitation in Windows
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 16, 2006 -- Special Operations Software, a global provider of Active Directory integrated and Group Policy extension server and desktop management software, today announced the availability of a new Group Policy extension product called Specops Password Policy. Specops Password Policy is a software product that removes the limitation of only one Password Policy per Active Directory domain.
In the current version of Active Directory only one password policy is provided for all domain accounts. Specops Password Policy gives users the ability to specify different password policies based on group membership, organizational unit, and even for individual user accounts. In addition, Specops Password Policy also extends the complexity requirement options available and defines the complexity rules a password must meet.
"A common security problem for many organizations worldwide using Active Directory is that the Password Policy has to be the same for the entire domain even though domain administrators should have much more complex password rules compared to other employees," said Robert Lundh, CEO of Special Operations Software. "With Password Policy we offer organizations worldwide the ability to increase their security level where it is needed the most."
