Handelsbanken aquires Specops Password Policy from Special Operations Software. The acquisition is aimed at helping Handelsbanken to meet the tough security requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) imposes on the bank's U.S. operations in its Windows environment. The solution will be used throughout the world.

With the help of Specops Password Policy Handelsbanken will meet both its own and external demands for more secure passwords in an easy and flexible way. "Earlier, we had to spend a lot of time to ensure that the various countries' requirements for password policy was respected. With Specops Password Policy, we can set the rules entirely flexible and always be sure that everyone follows them," says Åsa Karlsson, head of the Windows server platform at Handelsbanken.

Specops Password Policy is a well-tried product with many users across a broad spectrum of industries. Only in North America the product protects over 1 million user accounts. Specops Password Policy is a part of Special Operations Software's product line for more efficient use of passwords. The second product, Specops Password Reset, allows Self Service restoration of forgotten passwords with reduced costs and increased satisfaction among employees as a result.
