Overview
Specops Gpupdate is a free product that solves a major problem when administrating Group Policy, by giving the administrator a way to have Group Policy apply to any number of computers instantaneously and remotely, directly from the most commonly used Active Directory tool Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers. Besides adding the capability to remotely force a Group Policy refresh, Specops Gpupdate 2.0 has a number of other features that improves Group Policy administration, all executed remotely from ADUC, by simply selecting an OU, domain, security group and computers directly or from a search.
- Refresh Group Policy - Forces a Group Policy refresh
- Start computers - Start computers that support Wake-on-lan. Especially useful to have group Policy Apply on computers before the end users comes to work.
- Shut down computers Shut down computer to preserve energy.
- Restart computers - Restarts computers so that Group Policy settings that requires a boot will apply
- Windows Update Client Refresh - Makes sure that the latest patches apply directly to the computers
